Bristol City London Supporters FC are delighted to have received a brand-new playing kit, courtesy of Bristol City legend Scott Murray, with a helping hand from Downing Street.
What started with our original letter to former Bristol City player Andy Burnham has turned into something truly special for our London-based supporters’ football club.
Following our original letter and the subsequent coverage in Bristol Live, Downing Street got in touch with the club and helped coordinate a fantastic gesture with Bristol City legend and current kitman Scott Murray.
Today, following Bristol City’s away fixture against Charlton Athletic, BCFC London captain Alfie met with Scotty to collect a brand-new set of playing kit for the team.
The generous donation includes a full set of Bristol City shirts, shorts and socks, a goalkeeper strip and footballs, giving the team a brilliant new look for the remainder of the season.
And in a fitting nod to where this whole story began, we’ve even got a number 10 shirt — a little tribute to Number 10 Downing Street!
As a club made up of Bristol City supporters living in and around London, we’re absolutely delighted with the gesture. Support like this means a huge amount to a grassroots football club like ours.
A massive thank you to everyone at Downing Street who helped make this happen, and especially to Scotty Murray for helping arrange the kit and taking the time to hand it over to our captain Alfie.
We can’t wait to wear the new kit for the first time next Sunday, 18 October, when we return to competitive action.
And there’s more to come…
Following our correspondence with Downing Street, plans are also progressing for a friendly between BCFC London and a Downing Street team.
We’re hugely excited about the prospect and look forward to sharing further details once arrangements have been confirmed.
From a simple letter to a brand-new kit and a potential friendly against Downing Street, it’s been quite a journey for our little supporters’ club!
Up the City! 🔴⚪
